Overview
Kelly appears for both the Prosecution and Defence in all matters before the Crown Court and the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division).
Since 2002 Kelly has gained considerable trial experience in cases involving allegations of serious sexual offences, violence and drugs. Kelly is regularly instructed in cases involving children and Defendants or witnesses with mental health or learning difficulties.
Kelly is a grade 3 Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service and she is on the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences panel.
R v C
Defended a male charged with rape, witness intimidation and violence against a female partner.
R v R
Defended a youth charged with serious sexual offences against a very young child. The case involved the use of intermediaries by both the Crown and Defence.
R v M
Defended a youth, deemed unfit to plead and charged with serious sexual offences against a child.
R v W
Defended a male charged with historical sexual offences against children. The case involved a number of defendants and was the subject of an attorney generals reference.
R v L
Defended a woman charged with poisoning a child.
R v S
Prosecution of a female, care worker, charged with committing and filming sexual offences against numerous elderly residents, in her care. Advice had to be given to appeal the sentence, as it was unduly lenient.
R v T
Prosecution of a teacher charged with committing sexual offences against students.
R v C
Prosecution of a male charged with the rape of a female, whilst they were school children. Appeared alone against Queens Counsel.

In May 2021, Simon Laws KC was instructed to represent the victims in a trial in The Hague in which the former President of Kosovo and three others are being tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The proceedings are ongoing and Mr Laws is therefore currently unable to accept other instructions.

Paul is a Door Tenant of Walnut House, with family connections to the South West. He is also Head of Chambers at 2 Harcourt Buildings in London. Paul specialises in homicide, fraud, corporate crime – particularly bribery and corruption but also money laundering, cyber crime, and proceeds of crime.
He is regularly instructed by the CPS and the SFO and was on the Attorney General’s Criminal List for many years. Before his call to the bar he trained as a solicitor at a city firm (where he gained experience in all aspects of commercial law before qualifying in the commercial litigation/fraud group). He is a member of the Private Prosecutors’ Association and the Fraud Lawyers Association.

Heather has also defended and prosecuted as a led junior in murder trials at the Central Criminal Court and as leading junior counsel in numerous trials more recently.
