I was in practice in London for 8 years (at the Chambers of Roy Amlot QC, 6, King’s Bench Walk) before moving to Walnut House.
I accept instructions in cases covering all aspects of the criminal law both for the prosecution and the defence. I have particular experience in cases of homicide, sexual offences, fraud and drugs. I have considerable experience of cases involving police officers as defendants. I also appear on behalf of the Inland Revenue and in regulatory matters. I have appeared in Chambers & Partners as a ‘leading junior’ for the last three years. I judge mock trials on circuit. Cases of Note:
Notable cases include: R v R.: a case involving a defendant who had served 15 years of a life sentence for murder; fresh evidence adduced on appeal to show that he was suffering from Asperger’s syndrome at time of killing. R v J: junior counsel at 3 month trial of woman charged with arranging contract killing of her partner, a local councillor and druid. R v M: prosecution of murder case involving use of a Samurai sword.
R v C-N: prosecution of murder case concerning killing of cleaner in Carbis Bay by burglar. R v H: defence of man charged with £35 million VAT fraud. R v R & Ors: Appeal in Privy Council of men sentenced to death in Jamaica on basis of felony murder rule; sentences commuted to life imprisonment. R v W: defence of police officer charged with perverting the course of justice. R v P: defence of man charged with murder after human remains found buried in garden in Torquay. R v B: defence of police officer for dangerous driving in course of police pursuit. R v B: prosecution of police officer for indecent assault on males. R v C & Ors: prosecution of multi-generational allegations of child abuse. R v G: prosecution for manslaughter by gross negligence arising out of the youngest heroin-related death in the country.
