Enjoys a mixed practice of Civil and Crime. Extensive experience in substantial personal injury claims, professional and clinical negligence and commercial work. Established criminal practice, including regular instructions in cases of serious sexual offences.
A Recorder with a certificate to sit in crime and civil.
I studied Law at Southampton, and then trained in London. I practised in London at 4, Pump Court, Temple between 1971 and 1994 before moving to Devon and joining Walnut House. Since then I have continued a mixed civil and criminal practice.
I am a Recorder authorised to sit in Criminal cases in the Crown Court and Civil cases in the County Court.
I have acted as an Assistant Boundaries Commissioner
Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence
I have extensive experience in personal injury work for both claimants and insurers, including the most substantial claims. I have acted for many claimants in clinical negligence cases. I am a member of the Personal Injuries Bar Association.
Contract and Commercial
I have acted in many cases in this field with particular expertise in insurance and construction work.
Professional Negligence
I act in cases of alleged negligence by architects, surveyors, solicitors and other professionals, acting particularly for insurers.
Property and Land
I am experienced in general land law, particularly when associated with claims of professional negligence in property transactions.
Criminal Law
I act in a wide range of criminal cases including those involving the most serious sexual offences.

R -v- R. Prosecution of a rape case where the defendant was a youth and both defendant and complainant were deaf.
R -v- L. Prosecution of an attempted "stranger rape" on a female who was walking home at night.
R -v- AG. Leading counsel for the prosecution in a trial involving a complex international fraud.
R -v- G & Others. Prosecution of a couple who were charged with numerous offences relating to child cruelty.
R -v- D & Others. Prosecution of a multi-handed conspiracy trial where the defendants were charged with attempting to smuggle drugs into prisons.
R -v-R. Representing the defendant in a high profile murder trial where the victims body was never found.
