An approachable Common Law barrister with a wide ranging practice.
Born and brought up in Ireland, I have lived in the West Country since 1997. I was called to the Bar in 2004 and have been a member of chambers since 2005.
Civil Law
Personal Injury: I undertake a wide variety of both fast and multi-track personal injury work, acting for both Claimant (including CFA) and Defendant. I am a member of the PIBA.
Landlord and Tenant: I act with equal regularity for landlords and tenants in all aspects of residential houseing matters, including anti-social behaviour and disrepair.
Land: Advisory and court work concerning disputed boundaries, easements, restrictive covenants, trespass and nuisance, co-ownership cases and mortgage possession claims.
Contract: All aspects of contractual disputes including consumer credit, sale of goods and building disputes.
In addition to the above, i also undertake bankruptcy and costs work (including detailed assessments).
Criminal Law
I have a broad criminal practice, both prosecuting and defending, primarily at the Crown Court, but with a niche in road traffic defence work in the magistrates' courts. I have experience dealing with the full ambit of criminal offences from ABH to human trafficking to murder. I have a particular interest in fraud cases. I also deal with service personnel being tried by courts-martial.
Cases of note:
Crime:
R -v- W: Defending in a large multi-handed fraud.
R -v- A: Court Martial - Defending a serviceman accused of indecent assault.
R -v-D: Defending a man accused of a Section 18 hammer attack.
R -vF & Others: Prosecution junior in a series of trials concerning the forced trafficking of individuals into and around the UK and the laundering of the proceeds out of the UK.
R -v- AG: Prosecution junior in a complex international "ponzi" fraud.
R -v- D & Others: Prosecution junior in a multi-handed insurance fraud.

B v B - Long running neighbour dispute encompassing boundary disputes, harassment, breaches of compromise, committal applications and appeals.

R v B - low speed RTA resulting, ultimately, in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
